Choral music was born as collective singing: multiple voices supporting prayer or celebration together. From the monodic chants of the early Christians, notation emerged with Gregorian chant; later came polyphony, where vocal lines intertwine along independent paths. In the following centuries, masters such as Palestrina, Bach and Handel elevated the art, and the Romantic era further deepened it under Brahms. Today “choral music” covers any piece written for choir, sacred or secular, from Gregorian chant to gospel, and ensembles may be male, female, mixed, or a children’s choir. In this section you’ll find masterpieces such as Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem, Op. 45 (Live) and Mozart: Requiem in D minor K. 626 (Live Recording), alongside many other carefully curated choral gems from our catalogue.
