Swing is the most dance-friendly face of jazz. Born in the United States at the end of the 1920s and brought to full bloom in 1935, it replaced small combos with the big bands of Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Benny Goodman, ready to ignite clubs and ballrooms. Its secret lies in a steady four-beat pulse over which the horns weave light phrases that get you on your feet and ready to move. Throughout the 1930s and ’40s it filled radios and dance halls, becoming the soundtrack of an entire generation. In our section you can let yourself be swept away by the energy of Swing & Jazz Party, the elegance of Rushing Sings, Basie Swings, the anthology The Best of Swing, and our festive Christmas collections!
